Contemporary Medical Acupuncture is a precise peripheral nerve stimulation technique in which acupuncture needles are inserted into designated acupuncture points or “acupoints.” These points on the skin are believed to be pathways or routes by which the body’s energy or “Chee” flows.
The acupuncture needles may be manipulated by our registered physiotherapist to enhance the flow of energy or “Chee” within the body to encourage natural healing, reduce or relieve chronic pain and inflammation of affected areas of the body. Trigger Point Dry Needling (TPDN) involves the use of acupuncture needles to release trigger points throughout the body. Trigger points are palpable ‘knots’ in muscles that cause pain, stiffness, soreness and restrict normal muscle function. These knots may develop in response to prolonged pain and dysfunction and may increase pain. TPDN can be used to help alleviate pain and help return you to your regular activities of daily living.
Acupuncture and TPDN are natural, safe and effective, and combined with other rehabilitation services, will facilitate your return to daily function.
